DIY: Framed Cards

I adore Sunny Carvalho!  And her artwork is precious and priceless. I especially loved the cards she makes, so I ordered a few on her Etsy site along with some stamps and a glorious necklace. 

To display her art, I spent a whopping $4. 

Frames from Mighty Dollar=$2. Lace ribbon on sale from Donna Downey Studios =$2. I already had the hot glue, pink scrapbook paper, and nails. (The cards were $3 each...total bargain...but you can use any photo to put in the frames.)

This is the result:

And they go perfectly on my framed wall corner. 

The necklace is a Mermie with a pup...me and Barkley :)

And stamps would also make great framed art. Oh the ideas are churning now. 

OLW: Wall Update

The wall is up-to-date...YAY!!  This may be one project I actually keep up with since it is a once a year thing. 

As you can see I engraved "little word" under the number 1. 

The heart is up yet seems too small. However I like the idea of using a variety of items to complete the wall in all shapes and sizes and material. So I will leave it for now. 

The feather is placed in a shadow box with pins and a ribbon holding it in place. Hopefully it doesn't move too much as time goes by. I left the ribbon tail hanging off the side and out of the box for a "something different" effect. 

The hallway has bad lighting for photos and not many windows nearby, so here are close ups of the 12inch feather. 

I ordered the feather from Rachael Rice. She also makes amazing dream catchers. 

WINTER STORM: 2014 PAX

Hello, PAX!

Slowly, but surely the storm made its way to Charlotte, closing school and work early on Tuesday.

Bundling up with blankies and cuddling with my pup, Barkley. 

And then Wednesday hit with more snow, sleet, and wind. And work was closed. 

Big flakes falling by midday. 

Barkley getting adjusted since he had no choice. 

By night the snowfall lessened leaving a calm bright night. 

Yet morning came, and snow began again and work again was cancelled on Thursday. 

I ventured out to capture the beauty. 

And grabbed some fresh snow for Snow Cream with sprinkles. 

Can ya tell I'm not a morning person?!?

By that afternoon, paths were being made, roads opening up, but stores still closed early. I successfully scooped my sidewalk and scraped off my car. It actually was warm with the sun shining. 

And by Friday, Barkley was worn out...and work again closed due to parking lots not being paved. Gotta love the South!

Now hoping the gas bill stays under control next month. :/

WILDE & FREE: Sticks & Stones

I started the week of the Micki Wilde's art class Wilde & Free titled Sticks & Stones.

A big part of it is creating a protector of your being.  Hence her example of the Rhino. I started sketching her idea which led to a sketch of a Gator and finally a Unicorn (for a friend).  I will paint and add more layers, but for right now, I am enjoying the sketching process.

I sketched on a page that had ink blots...so no, it is not blood.
