Stink Stink Strikes Again!

Barkley couldn't wait to learn to weave too. ;)

And for all those wondering...most of the mess in the back is stuff going to the beach next week in my "uhaul" aka car. Sorry no space left ...even the pup isn't going. But I CAN'T WAIT!!!  

BARKLEY :)

During Mindy Lacefield's class, I started a wooden canvas painting with a dog as the main focus. 

 

 

As I finished, it became a tribute to my lil guy Barkley. 

 

He is my one and only (loud and barking)

Stink-Stink. (not because he smells...because he is a lil stinker)

And then QUIRKY became the word I embraced with parts: creative, one of a kind, nurturing, shine, true, badass, and youthful. 

 

My artsy friend Teresa is taking the class too and making amazing art.

  Just adore her...and her TALENT.

DIY: Framed Fabric

I found this awesome fabric at IKEA and had to do something with it. So I thought frames!! Just what I need more of right?

So the fabric was on sale and some poster size frames were as well. And they were a perfect match. 

I cut the fabric down the middle and glued onto the cardboard from the frames.  

And inside the frame they went. and soon to be hung on the wall. 

And per my reflection. 

Yes I went running today. 

And yes Barkley enjoyed the outdoors as well. 

RUBBERMOON: Shrinky Dinks

Oh, to be a child again!

Oh Wait, you don't need to be a child to still enjoy the fun of Shrinky Dinks!!

Not knowing how everything will turn out, I wanted to play around with this oldie but goodie.

In 3 (okay maybe 4) Simple Steps, I made several embellishmnets to use for future projects.

STAMP

It's a bit hard to see the stamps on the clear Shrinky Dinks.

I used a variety of stamps including my favorites from RubberMoon:

Sunny Carvalho and Mindy Lacefield collection

Staz-On and Archival inks worked best as they did not smudge. 

Brilliance was used on the black sheet, I just had to let it dry longer.

  I did have to sand down this brand, but love how the ink pops by itself.

COLOR & CUT

Coloring a few with Prismacolor pencils, but also leaving some just simply stamped.

SHRINK

And just like in my childhood, I still got giddy anticipating the results and

watching the pieces curl up and shrink and flatten back out.

The theory of using a brown bag under to remove the shrinky dinks didn't work so well.

 It was better to just stick with the cookie sheet alone.

Many curled up and stayed curled. 

When trying to flatten...I broke the bunny's ears. Poor Frolic :(

But hey....just like in childhood...Glue will fix it :)

I love the colors on the black, but one thing to remember is the colors don't show through the opposite side as with the clear sheets.  Hence the rougher texture. 

Completely adore how all these turned out.

You may not be able to tell, but they are vibrant.  

(The sun has gone down so lighting isn't the greatest. Apologies. )

It's hard to tell how small some of these are. I adore the lil' scully. And the lime green dog.

These gals would make great jewelry pieces.

Just remember to punch holes before shrinking...(.which I didn't.).

 

And then the rest of the batch.

 

I made the beach themed ones for an upcoming trip. (Is it June, yet?!?)

I plan to use them in my Project Life album in various pockets. 

Again, the sizing is hard to photograph, but it shrinks about 40% from the original.

 So...what are you waiting for....

PINTEREST PROJECT: Wooden Spools Heart

Collection of wooden spools from eBay, vintage store, and my mama. 

I found this on clearance at HomeGoods for $6 a few years ago, not knowing what to do.  I just knew it was cheaper than buying wood and putting together a pallet board & hanging materials.

Initially, a wooden girl, lifeguard chair, and life saver were on top, but I ripped it off.

the process:

Spray painted white over entire board.

Areas of the glue didn't take well, and some paint was already chipping off.

I created a template to use for sizing matters to get an idea of the location on the pallet.

Prearranging the spools before gluing everything down was key.

  It took about 3 tries to get it the right location and shape I wanted. 

Along the way I found this spool with my name on it so I had to keep it aside for something special.

Using a hot glue gun, I started with the outline. 

Then filled in the heart before gluing...

but I then decided the heart was too big for the initial idea and left the outline as is. I plan to add a family photo or collage inside. Perfect in my opinion! 

I took the "Alison" spool and faced it forward next to one with a star on top.

Adding a personal touch to resemble a punctuation of a period. Thus the symbol is making a statement such as LOVE, ADORE, EMBRACE. 

And the final result is completely ADORABLE!

And hung with care!!
