From a sketch to reality....I used a prepped wooden board with tissue paper, watercolors, acrylic paints, and paper clay elements.  I truly love Danielle Donaldson style so used a bit of it in my design...nothing compared to her gorgeous work, but I like it. 

I started by drawing around a character of hers that I copied to get a feel for what I needed to do.  I also used Danielle's method of naming her. (hopefully she doesn't mind)  I just truly love her style and philosophy.

Then I began...trying to let go, but also trying to stick to my design.  Along the way, I hit some bumps and changed the layout...but found it worked to my advantage.

WHAT A DAY: August 18, 2013

So excited to head to DONNA DOWNEY STUDIO (if you have never been, GO!! the place is awesome, full of inspiration, artsy goodness plus they offer so many amazing classes)  for an art day with my artsy gal pal, Melissa McClary. :)  Today was full of gelli printing fun.  A lot of trial and error, but a successful day, nonetheless. 

We used several stencils, and random object to create prints, but a majority of the prints were done using cut-outs from my Silhouette machine.

Love my little army men, which I plan on putting in 2 frames and giving them as a gift to an ARMY guy.

I used a cityscape to create the Charlotte image.  One thing I kept forgetting to do was reverse the image on the plate (Hence why the word Charlotte was glued on from the actual Silhouette printout)

My little HAPPY MAIL squirrel.  I will be doing a Fall Journal again this year (in fabric) and plan to put him in it with a heart in the center of the letter.  Hopefully during those months I get a Happy Letter :)

And THEN after a long day of art....(about 6 hours), Melissa and I went to the restaurant Duckworths.  I had the delicious fish tacos w/ chips and pineapple salsa.  A bit spicy, but good.  And Melissa had the Chicken Quesadilla which looked awesom.  And what's a meal without dessert:  Chocolate & Cocunut cake.  YUMMY!!

During the day, I also started another project....blog to be posted soon.  Can you guess what it will be?!?

PAPER CLAY: Middle AND Ending



After my paperclay configurations were dry, I coated each one with a dark color covering the entire item and in the crooks and crevices of them all.  I then began to paint with a dry brush.  If you lightly go over a raised area, the dark paint adds more dimension.

So hence, the finished products are below.....and can also be purchased in my Etsy shop.
