PROJECT LIFE: January 2014

And finally (only about 1 1/2 months late)!!  But better late than never.
I tried to adapt a variety of elements I saw in various blogs;
however sticking with one standard each week:
- HELLO statement card for the week's dates
- "Throwback Thursday"
Including inserts for various happenings during the week:
January 1, 2014 happened to be a 5 mile trail run...felt good to finish in the cold weather....
Totally amazed by a youth who had a prosthetic leg run the entire race with his younger brother.

My road trip to Raleigh to say goodbye to Archiver's. I will certainly miss that store.
I also had a flap on the lower card revealing steps of a painting I created for my mom.

I have found picking a color theme, collecting a few embellishments, and a style of Thickers help me stay consistent & tie the spread together.  Plus prevents me from spending so much time looking for odds and ends to add.

Loved using the watercolor paper cards, clear letters, and my own stamps for this spread.

insert: news article about an African Drumming class at my recreation center

Sad day when the Panthers lost in the playoffs :(

A lot of artwork this week with running errands, babysitting, and beauty needs.

insert: Script Writing class with Melissa

insert 2: Thank You cards received

I did some clear embossing on cards which may be hard to see:
one is "TBT" and "back to blonde"

Variety is the SPICE of life.
Again random happenings, artwork, a few of other's happenings,
 and a fun dinner out.

This week is 3 large pages as one is an insert of a trip to The Melting Pot.
I love using transparency overlays when I can.  I grabbed quite a few before Hambly went out of business, but Allison Kreft makes great ones now.

I grab various items when going places to incorporate such as receipts, brochures, mint wrappers, business cards, napkins, boxes, bags, etc.  It can be anything.

This was the last page for that week. I used mostly Studio Calico Project Life kit supplies but also included a card received with art I ordered from Jacqueline Myers-Cho.

I loved how Studio Calico had a special theme of office/work items/charts in a kit.
However the week I chose to be HELLO WORK...ended up being HELLO WORK?!
due to the snow/weather front that came through cancelling work.

Most months will have a back page due to how the weeks go, so I just added a variety of items.
My favorite card was the one stating,
"I just want to make nice things & get enough sleep."

Thanks for viewing!!
(feel free to click on images to make them larger & to see more details)
And yes, I am still working on the photo taking...I think it may have been a bit too bright outside when I took these, but it's trial and error.  One day I'll nail it!

HELLO 37!! What a (GREAT) Day!

(photo from Pinterest)
HELLO 37!
My birthday celebration/month came in all sorts of fashion
and continued into March due to late birthday fun with CJ.
To start off, a little THROWBACK fun.

And now this is what 37 looks like for me!

(another Pinterest find)

Gifts came in the whole month long including these fabulous tulips from my parents.

It took a lot of strength not to open, but I lasted til 12am of my birthday. That may be a record for me. I'm such a kid when it comes to gifts. Even giving.

Instead of cake, I splurged on Cupcake Delirium goodness. Sooo Nummy!

I even ordered a few gifts for myself so it was fun to see what arrived in the mail.

Apparently my mom is tired of hoarding our childhood items, so they are coming in the packages as well. However it is always fun to reminisce and enjoy what brought such happy moments in younger days.
One of my favorite aprons was this personalized crayon holder. It may be where my creativity began.
Gotta love THICKERS. I do!
The month was filled with so much fun and adventures:
Dinner at Cowfish Sushi Bar.
Trip to Chuck E. Cheese with Ben. He hit the jackpot.
Snow Days = Free Day Off Work.
Basketball tournaments for my Rec Center teams. 2 of them won the championship :)
Mimosa. CHEERS!!
Celebrating the month with my nephew Braxton who turned 1!
(and births of two new cousins )
Homemade cupcakes and gifts from Artsy friends.

A good ole Po' Boy.
They must have known it was my birthday as this was my favorite sub (& they discontinued regular service of it), but it happened to be on the special :)
Tested out my Mini Insta camera.  Loved it...so much fun.

A relaxing Mani/Pedi at Beauty Brands.

Yummy Kilwin's coffee ice cream in a waffle bowl with caramel topping.
Cuddles with my Barkley.

And cuddles with Mack Monkey (my win at Dave & Busters.)

And QT with my man.
