Some simple fun art to create during a day filled with rain (and maybe a little snow:)

All you need is a rock & Sharpie paint pen.  Easy Peasy!

BLOCK ART: Winter Fun

Welcome Winter!

(and to be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing a little snow soon, let me say a LITTLE louder)

But in the meantime, I created a few artsy fun gifts for family as well as ones to adorn my house (inspired by the lovely Junelle Jacobsen).  It seemed so empty after all the Christmas decorations came down.

STEPS:

Sanded and painted 2x4 blocks and also primed a 4"x4" thin wooden canvas (or what my sister referred to as a coaster :)

Did some paper piecing to create faces & hats.  Modpodged the elements on & dried.

Painted on various elements and used my finger to add "snow" to the blocks. Plus added a few more details with a black Sharpie or PITT pen. Added pieces from a silver doily onto the blocks.  And then coated the entire item with Modpodge.

SPRAY PAINT PROJECT: Dinosaur Planters

Simple project, Simple supplies, Simple steps:

-plastic animal of your choice (I found some at Michaels and Wal-Mart)

I selected ones that were soft rubber/plastic so I could use a box cutter to cut the opening.  Many have said you can use a drill to get through tougher animals.

-SPRAY PAINT (I used all primary colors from my collection.)

-since the spray paint was a bit tacky when dried, I coated the dinos with ModPodge

-succulent plants (found some at Lowes) The dirt included with the plant was enough to fill the hole in the animal.  Otherwise, there is always the ground you walk on to dig.

 

STEPS:

1) cut a hole out of the animal

2) spray paint entire animal, dry, reapply if needed

3) coat with ModPodge & dry

4) put succulent inside animal

5) water plants

6) display & enjoy

The longest part was the waiting to dry.  Rainy weather outside didn't help.

ONE LITTLE WORD 2013: HEART

Ali Edwards has an online class via Big Picture Classes called One Little Word.  It is my first year taking the course which encourages you to embrace one word for the entire year implementing it into your daily life.  Each month prompts are sent and various guidance provided.

The first step of OLW2013 began with an awesome intentions and title page. I had so much fun making these cards and using my stamps I so often neglect. Each month has a special meaning I will grasp and incorporate...MY INTENTIONS. 

JAN:  Awake My Heart

FEB:  Take Heart

MAR: Heart 2 Heart

APR: Open Heart

MAY: Young At Heart

JUN: Happy Heart

Along with the front page, I included a self photo in B/W, title card, and an overlay with rubons and butterfly element. 

The back side of the page had the remaining 6 months:

JUL: Heart & Soul

AUG: Heart Beat

SEP: Change of Heart

OCT:  Heart Felt

NOV: Cold Hands, Warm Heart

DEC: Cross My Heart
 plus 3 decorative cards...one with a stamped element THIS WAY (pointing up)

Looking forward to what this month brings that will Awake My Heart. (hopefully a healthier lifestyle and some weight loss :)

 

HAPPY 2013! HELLO PROJECT LIFE!

HELLO 2013! & Hello Project Life....

I decided to embark in another year of Project Life. Last year I did the project was 2010.  

 The initial idea was a kit designed by Becky Higgins to document your daily life for the year. But you can embrace the idea without purchasing the kit...it's as simple as collecting random daily items such as receipts, tickets, notes, etc or just simply using photos.  I do a combination of both

  So 2013 will be about documenting and more importantly...CREATING EVERYDAY!

I designed my cover page by doing a bit of stencil painting and various ink blots (okay...and yes some spray painting). 

I then used an image Junelle Jacobsen designed to create my artistic girl.  Even art swiped her saying to add on the page.  And it turned out great.  Favorite part is the paintbrush rub-on from Love Elsie I added to the skirt's pocket.
