WATERCOLOR ART: Kal Barteski "Leo"

My friend completely adored Kal Barteski's "Leo" the Lion. (All her work is admirable & amazing!!)
The design was created for a shirt through the company "Walk In Love".  However, the shirts tend to run on the way smaller side for us tall girls.  So for her birthday, I used my crafty skills and created a watercolor "Leo".

I printed out an image and used graphite paper to trace onto watercolor paper.
I then took masking fluid and painted it around the image, in the grey areas & let dried.

And then the fun began...used the Danielle Donaldson method to watercoloring.

process...
Then rubbed off the masking fluid for the
completed image!
LOVE LOVE LOVE....I foresee more of this artwork in my future!

  1. This is beautiful. I have Danielle's book and will have to try your technique. Hope that is ok with you!!

    1. Have at it. It was super fun. Plus I tend to have to "copy" items to get practice in. Ultimate goal is to create my own style.
